What Is Dropshipping, Anyway?
Let’s start with the basics.
Dropshipping is a super simple way to sell products online without ever touching them.
Here’s how it works:
You set up an online store, list products for sale, and when someone makes a purchase, you forward the order to a supplier who ships it directly to your customer.
That means no piles of inventory in your garage, no packing and shipping stress, and best of all, no huge upfront investment.
Why 2024 is THE Year to Start Your Dropshipping Empire
If you’re thinking, “Why now?” I’ve got two words for you: opportunity and timing.
The e-commerce space is booming, with more people shopping online than ever before.
Thanks to advances in mobile shopping and social media, it’s easier to reach your target customers.
Plus, with AI tools at your disposal, you can automate tasks, streamline your operations, and focus on what really matters—growing your business.
Step 1: Choose Your Niche Like a Pro
Alright, let’s get to the fun part—choosing your niche!
This is where you decide what you’re going to sell.
The key here is to find a niche that’s not only profitable but also something you’re passionate about.
Trust me, it’s way more fun to sell products you actually care about.
Start by researching what’s trending.
I recommend using TikTok and the TikTok Creative Center to search for trending products, since (as I’ll share later on) TikTok is the best place to launch your dropshipping business and you’ll want to know that your product will be a success there.
Use a brand new account to interact with product ads on TikTok.
Scroll past anything that is not a product post or ad and watch only ads and soon TikTok will be feeding you plenty of product ideas.
To use the TikTok Creative Center, navigate to the “Top Ads” from the top bar menu and filter for high CTR, looking for ads that have around 1000-2000 likes.
This will let you know that these products are selling well but are not oversaturated.
You can also do product research by looking at the Amazon Movers and Shakers page or the Ebay Bestsellers page, or on sites like TEMU and Aliexpress.
Just make sure you always head back to TikTok with any product ideas you find to make sure it is also trending on TikTok.
Once you’ve got some ideas, think about your target audience.
Who are they?
What are their pain points, and how can your products solve them?
Narrowing down your niche will make it easier to market your products and connect with your audience.
Step 2: Set Up Your Store—It’s Easier Than You Think!
Now that you’ve nailed down your niche, it’s time to set up your online store.
Don’t worry if you’re not a tech whiz—you can set up a store on Shopify easily and quickly.
I always recommend Shopify because you can integrate Shopify with a service called AutoDS which can help you source your products and streamline your sales.

Choose a theme that reflects your brand.
Keep it clean and simple—your products should be the star of the show!
Don’t forget to set up essential pages like your About Us, Contact, and Shipping & Returns pages.
These build trust with your customers and make your store look legit.
But your product page is by far the most important because this is where you’ll be sending all of your customers!
Step 3: Find Rock-Solid Suppliers
Your suppliers are the backbone of your dropshipping business.
You want to work with reliable ones who provide quality products and ship on time.
As I mentioned before, AutoDS makes finding reliable suppliers simple and easy.
So much better than in the olden days of dropshipping having to search Aliexpress endlessly and hoping you don’t end up with a flaky supplier.
Plus, as I mentioned before, AutoDS integrates with Shopify which makes everything 10x easier for you.

Step 4: Market Like a Boss
Now it’s time to creating viral-worthy content for your dropshipping product.
Once you’ve chosen your product and found a reliable supplier using a tool like AutoDS, it’s time to get your hands on the product by ordering it from Amazon or another fast-shipping source.
The goal is to receive it within 1-2 days so you can start creating video content to promote your store on social media right away.
What Kind of Content Should You Create?
Here’s a golden rule: duplicate what’s already working.
When you were researching your product, you likely came across viral ads on TikTok or other platforms that confirmed this product’s viability.
Your job now is to go back to those ads and recreate them as closely as possible using your own video footage.
The key is not to reinvent the wheel—don’t waste time trying to be overly creative or innovative at this stage.
Instead, focus on replicating what’s proven to work. Use similar video styles, angles, and messaging, but with your own unique footage.
While you should aim to have better lighting and video quality, stick closely to the format and approach that have already shown success.
How Much Content Should You Produce?
Consistency is crucial.
Plan to create enough content to post three times a day for at least two weeks.
Missing even one day could disrupt your momentum on the TikTok algorithm.
This high-frequency posting is where the dropshipping model shines, so don’t compromise on either the quality or the quantity of your content.
The first 3-5 videos you post are especially critical—they need to be your most engaging, viral-worthy content to catch the algorithm’s attention.
Focus on creating strong hooks in the first 3 seconds of each video, and again, replicate what’s working for others selling the same product.
Make sure your initial posts are your absolute best!
What Format Should Your Videos Follow?
A successful product video typically follows this structure:
- The Hook: The first 3 seconds should be attention-grabbing and intriguing enough to stop viewers from scrolling.
- The Body: This is where you showcase the product’s benefits or include a testimonial that highlights its value.
- Call to Action (CTA): Finish with a strong CTA, such as “Get it now for 50% off,” to encourage viewers to take immediate action.
By following this format, you’ll create compelling content that not only engages viewers but also drives sales, leveraging the power of social media to boost your dropshipping business.
Step 5: Scale and Succeed
You’re up and running, but this is just the beginning!
As you gain traction, start looking at ways to scale your business.
Add new products, explore new niches, and consider outsourcing tasks like customer service or marketing so you can focus on growth.
Keep an eye on your metrics—conversion rates, traffic sources, and ROI.
Use this data to make informed decisions and continually optimize your store.
